Individual Psychotherapy in Bethesda, MD
You’ll find me to not just a good listener but an active participant in your work. I take a positive, affirming approach and strive to bring new perspectives and practical solutions to whatever you’re working through. I’ll ask you hard questions. I’ll offer feedback and support. And I’ll tell you the occasional bad joke, because sometimes we all get a little too serious and lose perspective.
I’ll help you find new ways of thinking, feeling, and being so that you once again feel like you have a sense of direction and are back in charge of your life. That doesn’t mean becoming a different person — it means becoming more fully yourself, without the old patterns running the show. This is also the foundation I bring to couples counseling and affair recovery work.
You don’t need a crisis to start therapy — sometimes it’s just one of these. Therapy can help when you’re feeling…
Stuck.
You keep running into the same wall. Different situations, different people — but somehow the same outcome. You know something needs to change, but you’re not sure what, or how. Being stuck for a long time doesn’t mean something’s wrong with you — it often just means you’ve been solving the problem with the same tools that created it. Therapy can help you find approaches and tools you didn’t know were there.Overwhelmed.
Work, relationships, family — it’s all piling up and you’re holding it together on the outside while quietly drowning on the inside. The exhaustion is real. Most people wait until they’re completely underwater before asking for help, as if struggling alone longer somehow proves something. It doesn’t. Individual psychotherapy won’t make your responsibilities disappear, but it gives you back enough bandwidth to actually carry them instead of just barely surviving them.
Lost.
You’re doing all the right things by most measures, but something feels deeply off. Like everyone else got a manual you never received about how life is supposed to feel. Psychotherapy is a place to figure out what you actually want your life to look like, instead of just the version you assumed you were supposed to build.
Anxious.
The worry follows you everywhere — into conversations, into sleep, into decisions that should be simple. You’re tired of your own mind working against you.
Grief.
A loss — of a person, a relationship, a version of yourself — that you can’t seem to move past. Life has kept moving but you feel like you haven’t quite caught up. There’s no timeline for getting beyond a loss. Grief is a process, not an event but it does often help to have someone to talk to about it.
How I Work
Warm but direct
I’ll be honest with you even when it’s uncomfortable.
Insight meets action
We dig deep enough to understand, then we do something about it. Insight without follow-through doesn’t move the needle, so we always circle back to what you’re actually going to try differently to see how it’s working for you.
Laughter is allowed
A bit of lightness at the right moment can make it easier to say or do the hard thing. Some of the best breakthroughs happen right after a laugh.

I read and respond to every message myself, typically within a day.
Working with men is a significant part of my practice.
Men come to psychotherapy for all kinds of reasons — a relationship that’s struggling, a job that’s stopped feeling like it matters, anger that keeps taking over, or just a feeling they can’t quite shake or name. Sometimes it’s just easier to talk to another guy about what’s going on and what to do about it.
